I think some people just over think the Bible.
Today we learned about the "gap theory" and how some people believe that the 6 days of creation really weren't six days. What? I mean really. This idea obviously came from some scientist who just couldn't make HIS thinking match with God's word, so he twisted it.
My son is a thinker.
And, I can easily get deep too.
I have a feeling this curriculum is going to make us have many long talks. ;-)

since the word "day" can mean time ("in my day...") many use this verse to integrate evolution. However the bible uses two words translated into day. one does mean "unspecified period of time." the other almost always means 24 hours (especially when used with a qualifing definer such as "evening and morning.") Guess which one God used in Gen 1? If He meant "unspecified period of time" He used the wrong word!
Besides, "unspecified period of time" makes all the sabbath commends meaningless.
We attempted to start SOW week one this week ... lots of unexpected things happened, but we still really enjoyed what we managed to get done so far!
Genesis 1 ... we are totally new to SOW, but I think we are getting the hang of it. I am doing it with my children and we are having a lot of fun. We outlined Genesis 1 on tuesday ... that took us OVER 1 1/2 hours. My children are ages 11, 13 and 15 - when I saw the sample schedule I thought ok ... we have about a half hour to do this. Well .. I was wrong. It was so interesting seeing how each one of us did the outline (mostly pictures). All so different, yet on the same thing. If I can, I'll post them all on my blog, however my scanner is not working right, so I'll have to take a 'picture of a picture' and see how it goes!
Thanks for the post! I look forward to learning more about how you all 'do SOW'.
In Christ,
Joanne
